Adventure-A-Day April – Excerpt Fifteen

DAY FIFTEEN!!

A 2am start was an effort and a half after a toga party. Some were still drinking and others, mostly meaning me, were coming off a few cheeky hours sleep.

We headed into the port, as we were catching another ferry (to Venezia!) and coach was full of people asleep when these men came barging on, checking all the seats and the giving the coach a once over. Turns out, gypsies like to hide in cars and buses to try snuggle themselves to another country. I think they found one, if not a few, around our bus and the few cars parked up next to us.

Once we finally boarded, the entire day was pretty casual. Read some books, snacked on Pringles and probably had the best nights sleep I’d had all trip!

Others ventured out to the onboard nightclub/bar but I chose to sleep. Venezia was going to be amazing and I didn’t want to be tired!!

Sorry there aren’t any photos. The trip was just an endless horizon of water.

DAY TWELVE!!

Technically day twelve started with us stranded, waiting for the second ferry, but I will kick it off with us boarding the second ferry. It was quite light at 6am when we boarded the second ferry. It probably took us an hour or so to get to mainland Corfu. Even the views coming in to dock were beautiful, filled with old ruins and ports from times of old.

Once we were back on the coach, we made way for camp, Corfu Village. After we settled in to our camp, I took some shots from the balcony. The view from our room was INCREDIBLE.

After working out the bus time tables, we took one into town to try and find a chemist because you can by prescription drugs OVER THE COUNTER. WINNING! All stocked up on medication and throat lozenges, the other girls took off to do some things while I did a spot of shopping. πŸ˜›

We caught a cab back to camp because we couldn’t find the bus route going back the other way. πŸ˜›

We chilled by the pool and drank a far bit but the evening was pretty relaxing. πŸ™‚ Corfu is like a holiday within a holiday.

Jam packed day tomorrow on George’s Boat. Look Out! πŸ˜‰

DAY ELEVEN!!

Today we were on out way to Corfu, one of the isles of Greece but before we made our way onto an overnight ferry, we took a detour past Pompeii and has a tour amongst the ancient ruins.

We then made way for the overnight ferry πŸ™‚ It wasn’t sure exciting but nevertheless at the end of it we would be in Greece! Iwas outside at the port in Italy and was taking a few snaps up the side of the ferry. An employee came running out of the cabin saying you can’t be down here but I told him another employee said I could take a few photos then be on my way. To my surprise, he invited me into the main cabin where the captain of the ship was, so take photos from the front of the ferry! SAY WHAT! I got VIP access! YAY!

We didn’t have beds as such on this ferry but more like a theatre room with high back chairs to sleep in. NOT COMFY AT ALL. There was no one in the chair next to me so I could try and lay down across the two chairs but it was squishy and not flat. I didn’t get much sleep at all, maybe a few hours at max.

With our first ferry breaking down in the middle of the Adriatic, we then missed out second ferry LITERALLY by seconds! Matt (our bus driver) did his best to make up time in transit between the two ferries but as we rolled into the dock, the ferry door was lifting and the ferry was “ferrying” away. *SUPER SAD FACE*. This meant from 4am to 6am, we were stuck basically on the side of the road. We found this small Greek bakery that made this awesome pastries so we stuffed our faces and bellies, just to waste time. πŸ™‚

Just as the sun was rising, another ferry made it’s way into the dock and we boarded.

Day eleven didn’t include a whole lot but some days are like that.
