DAY TWENTY ONE!!

Today was a day of mixed emotions. We boarded the coach in Prague headed for Oktoberfest Capital, Munich. One our way, we stopped by the Dachau Concentration Camp.

There are not a lot of words that can describe the feel of this place, except for maybe, eerie, overwhelming and emotional. Take a look at some of the photos I captured.

Fast forward, (as we just made our way to the hostel on the coach after the concentration camp) we had the opportunity to have dinner at a local Bavarian Beer Hall. We all got ready and reboarded the coach and were dropped off, ready for a massive night including gigantic pork knuckles and even bigger beer steins. For €24, I think we got a pretty good deal. The pork knuckle was absolutely delicious and as for a non beer drinker, it was pretty amazing.

We had yodellers, musicians, dancers and ladies dressed in traditional costumes jingling cow bells. What entertained me more though was the italian chef in the kitchen that had the second semi final of Euro 12 on, on this tiny screen attached to his kitchen bench. He invited me and a few other football crazy fans into the kitchen for even more beer and football. He was the coolest ‘local’ ever. By the time we left the hall, Italy was winning against Germany.

Back at the hostel, the game was on in the bar and I was cheering on the Italian’s; with a lot of dirty looks from the German’s. The Italian’s won and even though I am still dirty on them for knocking us out of the 2006 World Cup, I wanted to see them face Spain in the final. A few of the girls were in the bar drinking so I staggered skipped over to them and danced for a while. I hadn’t talked to them a lot on tour but that night I found out how cool they actually are. I was quite drunk and I knew we had a big day tomorrow so I dragged my sorry butt to bed.
